The Gulf Oil Rig Explosion, Oil Spill of 2010
It seems we have been here before...
President Barack Obama has deemed this event "the worst environmental disaster America has ever faced". To my knowledge he hasn't mentioned the much larger oil spill due to another rig explosion in 1979 (in the same general area I might add) but inaccurate statements aside, this IS a major disaster and needs as many of us on this as possible.
Crude oil has washed up on the beaches of all of the American states in the gulf coast - thousands of animals have already perished and still, months later, the oil continues to flow. I think its safe to say at this point in time that things in the gulf will only get worse. My appologies Mr. President, but your yet to say something convincing to support your "we got this" attitude.
BP (British Petroleum) is the culprit for this one, researching them a bit yeilds some interesting results - not real straight shooters in my opinion. I have stated before that giving them control of this mess is like letting a suspected killer boil the murder weapon before forensic investigations. Maybe we (the bloggers and "people" of this world) played a role in the forming of the "Presidential Commission" and if so we deserve to pat our selves on the back, though I must admit, I dread the outcome of checking the members for private interest links...
